If you have crypto and want to spend it, you’re not alone. A recent survey says more than 93% of consumers with crypto feel the same way.  In fact, consumers report they specifically want to spend it on everything from groceries, to furniture, appliances, financial services, travel, and more.

That’s why we’ve partnered with Verifone, the industry leader for in-store, in-app and online payments.  Together, BitPay and Verifone are making it easier to transact with crypto while also offering more ways to live life on crypto!

Without having to convert to fiat first, Blockchain.com, BRD, Metamask and BitPay wallet holders can pay for purchases in-store or online at some of the largest US retailers.  Mainstreet brands like American Eagle Outfitters, Bloomingdale’s, Champs Sports, Foot Locker, Guess, Macy’s, Radio Shack, Taco Bell, The Container Store, Tuesday Morning, TGI Fridays, Whole Foods and Williams-Sonoma all use Verifone.

At checkout, consumers select their preferred crypto wallet from the Verifone device then scan an on-screen QR code with this wallet to complete payment. That’s it. The payment is just as quick and easy as other payment methods and the transaction is complete.

Consumers can choose to pay using any of the 11 BitPay supported cryptocurrencies including BTC, ETH, DOGE, BCH, WBTC, LTC, and  5 USD-pegged stablecoins [GUSD, USDC, PAX, DAI, and BUSD].

Verifone works with more than 600,000 merchants or about 60% of the US market. The company manages more than 10.4 billion online and in-store transactions annually, totaling more than $440 billion.

Verifone will begin rolling out this solution later this year so stay tuned for more news on what merchants will begin accepting crypto payments in-store and online.
